On January 10, 2024, at 340 Jordan Rd, Sedona AZ, Terri Kang led a session blending Korean dance and meditation, hosted by KAANA (Korean American Association of Northern Arizona). Terry Kang began with an entrancing performance on the Janggoo, a traditional Korean drum.
Amidst the serene ambiance, attendees immersed themselves in the rhythmic beats of the Janggoo. Terry Kang’s live performance captivated hearts, infusing each beat with passion and vitality. Attendees found themselves swaying to the infectious rhythm, their spirits uplifted by the soulful melodies.
But this event was more than just a performance; it was an invitation to explore the profound connection between movement and meditation. Drawing inspiration from the Janggoo’s rhythm, participants embarked on a journey of self-discovery, learning basic dance steps and movements rooted in Korean tradition. As they gracefully moved their bodies, they found harmony between breath, rhythm, and consciousness, transcending the boundaries of mere physicality.
Moreover, attendees had the unique opportunity to engage directly with the Janggoo, as Terri Kang provided them with a chance to play the drum themselves. This hands-on experience allowed participants to deepen their connection to the rhythm and immerse themselves fully in the rich cultural heritage of Korean music and dance.
Regardless of age or gender, everyone present was welcomed to partake in this experience. No prior experience was necessary; all that was required was an open heart and a willingness to explore.
Stay tuned for future sessions with Terri Kang. Embrace tranquility through movement and meditation.
