A Remarkable Grand Opening: Korean Cultural Center by KAANA

Sedona, AZ – The Korean Cultural Center, an exciting addition to Sedona’s cultural landscape, celebrated its grand opening, hosted by the Korean American Association of Northern Arizona (KAANA). The event, held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, October 12, 2023, welcomed approximately 100 attendees, including distinguished guests like Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow, Yavapai County representative Susie Farechild, and Nancy Natanzzi from the City of Sedona.

Unveiling the Cultural Hub: The Korean Cultural Center

The evening began with an enthusiastic welcome from KAANA’s president, Sohyung EJ Lim. She shared her enthusiasm for the center as a hub for cultural exchange, learning, and community building. Terry Kang introduced the center, highlighting its potential as a place for exploration and enlightenment. The grand opening featured heartfelt congratulatory messages from several notable figures, such as Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow, Yavapai County representative Susie Farechild, Nancy Natanzzi from the City of Sedona and Kim Yongwan from Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in LA.

Cultural Teasers: Part Two of the Celebration

The event’s second part featured teaser classes for attendees to experience some of the rich cultural offerings of the center:

  1. Korean Dance by Terry Kang: Guests enjoyed a captivating display of traditional Korean dance, showcasing grace and elegance.
  2. Korean Wellness by Jen Angeli: Attendees learned about Korean wellness practices, focusing on balance and self-care.
  3. K-Qigong by Daniel Jung: The session explored the ancient Korean art of energy cultivation, offering benefits for vitality and mental clarity.

Savoring Korean Flavors: A Culinary Delight

As the cultural celebration continued, participants had the opportunity to indulge in a delightful array of Korean refreshments. Popular choices included Kimbap Korean-style sushi rolls filled with fresh vegetables and other delectable ingredients, SujungGwa, a traditional Korean dessert made with dried persimmons, honey, and pine nuts and Shikhye, a refreshing Korean rice tea with a subtle sweet flavor.
